Jason Rector Named to Rising Star and 40 Under 40 Lists

Jason Rector, funds alpha analyst, made the 2017 Hedge Fund Rising Star and the Class of 2017 Forty Under Forty lists. Named one of 30 people to watch in the hedge fund industry, he was recognized as a public funds emerging leader. "These awards reflect the strong team and the thoughtful, sophisticated philosophy we have at SWIB," said Jason.

This year, SWIB committed to doubling the size of external hedge funds over the long term and to support up to $1 billion in additional external hedge funds in 2017. Increasing the asset allocation presents a new set of opportunities for SWIB in addition to more collaboration. "We need the entire organization to help us achieve our goals. Scaling up requires us to work closely with the Asset and Risk Allocation (ARA) Division to ensure we take on the right types of risk. We also rely heavily on the Operations Group to support our trades. These awards reflect how well SWIB works together," said Jason.

Funds Alpha Team is taking a thoughtful and prudent approach as they navigate a larger playing field. Regardless of scale, one thing remains the same for Jason and the team. "I enjoy working for one client- the beneficiaries. It's helpful to be able to fully devote my attention to one portfolio," said Jason.

Chief Investment Officer Magazine compiles the Forty Under Forty list from anonymous nominations from 40 global asset managers.

Institutional Investor magazine's 15th Annual Hedge Fund Industry Awards recognizes the hedge funds, funds of hedge funds, investment consultants, endowments, foundations, family offices, corporate funds, public funds, sovereign funds and rising stars that stood out for their performance innovation, achievements and contributions to the industry in the past year. Past SWIB recipients of the Rising Star List include two-time award winner Dominic Garcia, funds alpha manager; and Derek Drummond, funds alpha managing analyst.
